Ylituomari
Kotona on tällä hetkellä neljä koiraa. Paimennusvalio, jo 11-vuotias australianpaimenkoira sekä aktiivisesti paimennuskokeita silmällä pitäen koulutettavat vuoden vanha australianpaimenkoira sekä nelivuotias bordercollie. Paimennuskokeissa arvostan suoritusta, jossa näkyy ohjaajan ja koiran rauhallinen ja saumaton yhteistyö. Paimennettavaa laumaa käsitellään herkästi, mutta taidolla. Yhteistyötä, jossa molemmat luottavat toisiinsa ja erityisesti kumpainenkin tietää omat tehtävänsä sekä ottaa niistä vastuun. |

Laura Vassallo, International Herding Judge
I have been working as a veterinary surgeon in my own surgery since 1989 treating cats and dogs. After obtaining a Master in Ethology, I specialised in behavioural diseases. I have been breeding Belgian Shepherds (Groenendael,Tervueren and Malinois) under the kennel name “Alta Via” since 1993. I am qualified to judge at an international level for some other breeds from Group 1 :Border collies, Rough collies, Smooth collies, Shetland sheepdogs and Berger de Beauce. I became a herding judge in 2017. I have judged numerous CACITR in many different European countries. I competed in Traditional Herding trials at level 3 with my two dogs: a Groenendael Belgian Shepherd male Ch. Valkohampaan Batticuore and a Rough Collie female LetitbeNera di Cambiano. What I appreciate very much in herding is a calm and real work of the team from which I can judge intelligence, herding instinct and power of the dog. |

Saskia Chalsen-Polsen, International Herding Judge
I’m Saskia Clahsen, I live with my husband, two human-kids and two dog-kids (self bred Dutch Sheperd Dogs) in the Netherlands. We own a lovely house at the country side and live together with a few more pets. I work at a psychriatric hospital and there’s a small farm at the hopsital grounds, so that’s the place were I keep the rest of my animals. I’ve been a traditional herding judge for 8 years already and I was the first traditional herding judge in the Netherlands. I took intrest in the Dutch national history, so the breeds I own are mostly rare typical Dutch breeds. For me the traditional way of herding is the closest way to become a team with your canine’s. Taking care of the welfare of your flock and collaborating to lead the flock of sheep to a piece of land, where they’re able to eat lots of grass and walk around freely, and of course doing this without the least amount of stress and effort as possible. When I’m judging I always pay attention to the interactions between the handler and their canine’s. I always enjoy watching the handler make the best decisions for their animals, i also enjoy it when the handler leaves some space for the dog to show his/her talents and natural instincts. Herding is a fantastic way to show the chemistry between a handler and dog, the enjoyment that handler’s get from herding should be more important than the amount of points that they recieve. |
